Why Chris Burvill is feeling a little more optimistic

Chris Burvill, manager of the Citywire Henderson Cautious Managed fund, is feeling a little more optimistic about life in 2012.

For much of last year he was on the back foot but started to see value in equities towards the end of year.

In this video, shot at an investment forum last month, Burvill highlights where his biggest convictions lie. He also makes it clear why he will not be investing in gold even though his lack of exposure to the precious metal has hampered his performance recently.

According to Lipper, the Cautious Managed fund has returned 32.9% in the three years to 3 February versus a 37.4% gain in the benchmark.
