Thames River hires ex UBS credit boss in team restructure

Thames River has strengthened its re-Global Credit team with the recruitment of Brett Golledge, the former head of credit trading at UBS.
Once approved by the FSA, he will co-manage the team’s funds alongside Stephen Drew (pictured). Past experience includes stints on the proprietary trading desks of Swiss Bank, Deutsche Bank and RBS.
The appointment follows the recent hire of Jennifer James as the global credit team’s head of credit research. James joined Thames River from Gruss Asset Management, where she was a partner and head of credit research focusing on credit and distressed debt opportunities.
The restructuring has also led to the departure of portfolio manager Mehrdad Noorani and Chris Currington, the global credit team’s chief operating officer.
‘2011 was a challenging year for credit investors, with huge swings in sentiment as investors were swept up in ‘risk‐on’ and ‘risk‐off’ trading. I am very confident that these changes will enable us to exploit the opportunities that on-going market volatility will bring,’ said Drew, head of the Global Credit team at Thames River.
Drew’s Thames River High Income fund has returned 30.52% to investors over the last three years, compared to BofA ML Global Emerging Markets Sovereigns' performance of 51.16% over the same period.
