Brown Shipley hires ex-Coutts sports & entertainment boss
by Elsa Buchanan on May 06, 2014 at 12:50
Brown Shipley has appointed David Thompson as private client director in its London office.
Thompson joins from Coutts where he spent 25 years, lately as head of the private bank's sports and entertainment arm. Other positions held included head of client service and senior wealth manager, where he provided tailored financial counsel to a diverse range of clients.
Last September Thompson was replaced by Simon Hopes as market leader for the sports and entertainment division.
At Brown Shipley Thompson will be responsible for developing the private banking and wealth management proposition for a broad spectrum of clients.
Hugh Titcomb (pictured), head of private banking at Brown Shipley, said: 'We have ambitious and exciting growth plans for the business and David’s appointment is part of this strategy.'
In the last twelve months, Brown Shipley has faced a number of departures and hires in a big restructure of its proposition.
Most recently, its veteran executive director, Bob Smoker, left the firm after 37 years of service, after a shake-up saw it appoint Titcomb to head the firm’s private banking division.
At the time, chief operating officer Robert Kitchen also stepped down from the board.
Other recent appointments include chief risk officer Mike Hudson and triple hire for its Edinburgh team.
