Tenet launches support services to help advisers stay independent

Tenet has launched a new support services proposition to help directly authorised firms stay independent after the retail distribution review (RDR).

Tenet’s support services provider TenetSelect will offer increased regulatory guidance and improved outsourcing services through a new financial planning facility.

Tenet has created three new support packages- inform, consult and complete-  and will offer expert business transitional support.

The launch is part of the company's new financial planning service which includes a research and technical facility and a new specialised investment offering.

Advisers will have access to a range of new services such as investment solution audits in response the Financial Services Authority's thematic review on suitability, and a specialist research offering for niche areas such as structured products.

Keith Richards, Tenet group distribution and development director (pictured), said the new service was launched in response to the increased pressure advisers would be under due to the RDR.

'Advisers [will have to] demonstrate understanding and compliance of the new rules, whilst at the same time having to consider a broader range and more specialist products if they wish to remain independent- which we believe will not be as onerous as first anticipated,' he said.

'The regulator has publicly stated its intention to be far more proactive in its supervision of all firms. In response we are providing an enhanced level of support and best practice guidance to ensure effective compliance in an ever-changing environment.'

"Remaining independent not as onerous as first anticipated".

It never was - which is why Independent advice needs a strong committed voice which doesn't sway with the wind.

But they should be doing that in any case! Sounds like an increase in fees to me?

Emperor's new clothese. Surely an IFA support service provider should be evolving their proposition as a matter of course? Hardly ground breaking news is it???

It is interesting to see the first three bloggers have nothing constructive to add and just appear to be out to score points – they must believe it shows a healthy professional attitude to the FSA I guess!

As an industry we ought to be more united and I for one applaud larger organisations such as Tenet for publicly-supporting small IFA firms and helping us tangibly meet the challenges of new legislation and independent advice requirements.
