Standard Life cuts 69 jobs
by Jun Merrett on Nov 29, 2011 at 16:41
Standard Life has announced it will cut 106 jobs across its group IT and facilities department, but create a further 37 roles within the department, leading to a net loss of 69.
It is also negotiating the outsourcing of its network and telephone services to BT which may result in 17 members of staff being transferred.
Employees impacted by the move were briefed by Sandy Begbie, Standard Life group people and operations director this afternoon.
A Standard Life spokesman said: 'We have reviewed our group IT and operations division and have shared the outcomes of this review with our people today. The proposed changes will ensure greater synergies, greater capacity to serve our customers and provide clarity of roles for our people.
'We will now enter a period of consultation with our staff association on the proposed changes, which will last a minimum of 30 days.'
