Schroders launches US Alpha Plus fund

Schroders has launched a US Alpha Plus fund for its head of US large cap equities Joanna Shatney.

Shatney, who joined Schroders in 2005 also manages two offshore funds, the Schroder ISF US Large Cap fund and Schroder ISF US All Cap fund.

The concentrated portfolio which will launch on 14 December will hold up to 50 companies, and will be benchmarked against the S&P 500 index.

Robin Stoakley, managing director of UK Intermediary at Schroders said: 'We think the time is ripe for a concentrated, high conviction portfolio in the US equities space. Our Alpha Plus fund range has been a success since inception and we are looking forward to talking to clients and intermediaries about this new offering.'

Shatney said: 'High profit growth in the past two years and strong balance sheets means US companies are in a strong position going into 2012. This combined with low valuations and expected growth rates of 5 to 10% next year, makes investing in the US very attractive.'
