New Model Adviser® awards article boosts client enquiries for winners
by Maryrose Fison on Feb 12, 2010 at 14:51
This year’s New Model Adviser® award winners have been enjoying a significant upturn in enquiries and even signed new clients since featuring in a special article in The Daily Telegraph.
The winners were not just featured on the pages in this magazine (see Issues 194 and 195) but also made the Your Money pages of the national newspaper in an article written by New Model Adviser® editor Gavin Lumsden.
Peterborough-based Dunham Financial Services said it had seen a significant increase in interest since winning the gong for best financial planning firm in the East of England last month.
Managing director Rebecca Taylor received 12 enquiries, eight of which had translated into appointments.
‘It is certainly quite exciting to see new people,’ said Taylor. ‘Anybody that does any marketing knows you can pay as much as you want for adverts but people trust what is in the newspaper because it is not paid for.’
Redditch-based Central Financial Planning said it had also seen an encouraging number of enquiries in the past two weeks and has taken new clients on.
‘We’ve probably had 20 potential new clients from phone calls and emails and have appointments booked with 13 or 14 of those. A couple have already signed up and come on board!’ said Central Financial Planning managing director Ian Smith (pictured).
Describing the article as a ‘stamp of approval’, he said the publicity had helped attract prospective clients without relying on previously established links with other clients.
‘It has been invaluable because a lot of people have said they had been looking for financial planning but did not know where to go until then,’ he said.
Cranleigh-based Arch Financial Planning has received more than 20 enquiries, a huge improvement on the three or four enquiries it typically received every month, according to managing director Arthur Childs.

I am Darren Lloyd Thomas of Thomas and Thomas over in West Wales. We really enjoyed going to the conference as a shortlised firm, the whole experience was amazing, and we met some fabulous people. The firm that won our group (Heron House) are brilliant, and Chris Jordan was a great guy to meet. I can actually state that even just being shortlisted has boosted perception in our local community and amongst our lawyer and accountant connections. We are only a two man firm, so recognition like this was truly a reward for us sticking to our guns on a pure fee model, giving our clients a ridiculously good service, and sweating it out to gain those higher level qualifications - which we all know are not easy to implement or maintan. Thank you City wire. x
