Arthur Childs, director of Surrey-based Arch Financial Planning, says that advisers need to market their qualifications to the public if they are to reap their full benefit.
Childs has joined adviser listings website Financial Planners Elite, which only allows certified and chartered financial planners to become members.
He argues that advisers cannot rely on the professional bodies to market their qualifications for them, and need to take steps to market themselves to potential clients online.

Financial Planners Elite is the directory of the leading UK financial advisers - Chartered Financial Planners and CFP Professionals. We believe that these advisers are the elite of our profession. They have made a huge commitment, in terms of both time and money, to attain qualifications far beyond those of the average adviser. They have done this, not for fun, but in order to be able to give the best financial advice to their clients. They certainly deserve special recognition for their achievements. That is why Financial Planners Elite is 'elitist' and not just another IFA directory!
