Many left-wing economists, such as David Blanchflower, argue that the emergency budget due on 22 June could push the UK economy back into recession if the coalition government cuts spending too aggressively.
On the other hand, economists on the right have argued alongside the government that countries such as Canada have managed to grow and cut spending simultaneously. So who is right?
