* Longshot Ltd, the company that Joel Cadbury runs with long-term business partner Ollie Vigors, has bought the Bel and The Dragon chain of four pubs for around £4m from Orchid Group.

* Nathan Kirsh, the billionaire rebel shareholder battling for control of property developer Minerva, would consider splitting the company in two and turning one half into a real-estate investment trust.

* Channel 4 is close to offering Jay Hunt, the controller of BBC One, its top commissioning role as chief creative officer.

* Heritage targets Iraq after Uganda pull-out.

* JP Morgan is on the verge of appointing Mike O'Brien, the former head of BlackRock's European arm, to run its global institutions franchise from London in sign of commitment to City.
