Drax Group

Drax Group owns the Drax power station in Yorkshire, which is the largest coal-fired power station in Europe. The company is looking to convert half of its firing units to run on biomass. The original plan was to co-fire biomass and coal in all six of the plant's units, but changes to government policy mean it's now looking to run half the units on biomass alone. In 2011 the station burnt 10 million tons of coal, half of it imported.
