David Miliband will not form the Shadow Labour Cabinet with his brother Ed.
Markets
David Miliband has decided to quit front line politics and become a Labour banckbench politician after losing the battle to become leader of the party to his younger brother, Ed Miliband.
Milliband narrowly lost out to his brother, who has the support of the union movement, despite winning the majority of votes from the Parlamentary Labour Party and Members of Parliament.
Since his defeat to younger Miliband by 1%, the media storm has centred on whether David Miliband will seek to be part of the new Labour Shadow Cabinet, which under Labour party rules has to be elected when in opposition.
Since Miliband has not submitted his name for election for the Shadow Cabinet, he is now likely to remain a backbench politician, representing his Sedgefield constitutency.
