Swiss-based Vontobel Asset Management have launched an equity fund with the criteria to invest in companies that address environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.
The Vontobel Fund (SICAV) - Sustainable Global Leaders fund will be managed by Roger Merz, who heads global equities and also runs the Vontobel Sustainable Global Equity fund.
'We believe that leading companies with a competitive advantage can outperform the market given their ability to deliver consistent, above-average return on invested capital", said Roger Merz, commenting on the new fund.
The Luxembourg-domiciled fund launch adds to a range of ESG funds managed by Vontobel through equity and fixed income asset classes and follows an ESG fund launch into emerging market equities earlier this year.
